‘The Bigger Picture’ David Hockney Landscapes
In this unit students learn about David Hockney’s landscape paintings, colour theory and aerial perspective
Expectations
By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to recognise the characteristics of Hockney’s paintings and learn about aerial perspective. Students will develop the key skills of watercolour painting, colour mixing and blending and use primary, secondary and complementary colours to paint their own Hockney style landscape.
Key Assessments
Sketchbook work and landscape paintings will be given attainment levels in line with the schools marking and assessment policy
How to help your child
Discuss/look out for examples of aerial perspective when out in the landscape and support students in providing a suitable landscape photograph to work from when requested.
